Every company has an origin story. Ours began with a moment of absolute clarity—one that arrived not in a boardroom, but in a moment of personal reckoning.
There comes a point in life where you recognize that something must change. For me, that realization hit twice. The second was the undeniable wake-up call: I was on the verge of a promotion, my career path was laid out, everything looked ideal on paper—yet I found myself falling asleep in a meeting, exhausted, out of shape, and carrying an extra 30 pounds I never expected. It was symbolic of a deeper problem: I was progressing professionally while declining personally.
That was the moment I made a decision.
I went home, walked into my parents’ small, closed-concept 18x18 garage in Clarence-Creek, looked at the minimal equipment in front of me, and decided that waiting was no longer an option. Wally Strength & Conditioning was born at 1888 Labonté Street—more out of necessity than ambition, more out of conviction than certainty.
I kept my 9–5, working early mornings and late nights, seven days a week. I poured everything I had into that garage—discipline, grit, vision—until one client became two, two became dozens, and eventually, the foundation was strong enough for me to step away from my job and fully commit to building something greater.
My mission was—and still is—simple: To help people live strong, independent, capable lives right up until their last breath.
I’ve seen firsthand what a loss of health and mobility can do to someone. I vowed that my work would help others avoid that fate.
Today, Wally Strength & Conditioning stands for athletic freedom—the ability for individuals to stand in their power, live life on their terms, do what they need to do, and more importantly, what they want to do. Our clients burn fat, eliminate pain, rebuild energy, and restore confidence—all through a system built on the belief that less is more and consistency beats extremism.
What began as passion and uncertainty evolved into structure, culture, and community. I may have ignited the vision, but it is the people who walk through our doors every day who propel it forward and bring it to life. They are the heartbeat of this company.
My first moment of change came earlier—at age 25—when I discovered personal development. And as many know, once you step into that world, you don’t go back. Since that day I’ve read over 100 books, listened to hundreds more, and invested in seminars, masterclasses, and an array of certifications. But more importantly, I invested in becoming a leader capable of building something worthy of people’s trust.
Before becoming a coach, I traveled the world playing hockey—Spain, France, Australia. Those experiences shaped me far beyond sport. They taught me resilience, humility, adaptability, and the power of opportunity. Today, I pay that forward to young athletes I’ve helped guide from minor hockey to Major Junior, NCAA Division 1, and even NHL camp invitations. For me, it has never been just about building athletes—it’s about building strong, confident, grounded human beings.
And our reach extends beyond athletics. I’ve helped everyday individuals—people just like me—lose anywhere from a few pounds to nearly one hundred. Their success reinforces the belief that when people are supported, challenged, and led with intention, they rise.
As I reflect on the last eight years of working more hours than anyone would find reasonable, especially my wife, I do so with gratitude. To every member—past, present, and future. To the coaches who spend every day in the trenches delivering unmatched service and creating an inclusive environment. To the mentors, partners, and supporters who helped me grow through setbacks and breakthroughs alike. Without this community, this message would never be written.
I believe deeply in what we are building—and I’m excited for what comes next. Our vision for the future is bold: to open our second location by the end of 2026 and continue expanding our impact with integrity, excellence, and innovation.
Some people see things as they are and ask, “Why?” I prefer to dream of things that never were and ask, “Why not?”
